2021 BMW X5 Xdrive50i Review, Price, Horsepower – The xDrive50i features a standard upgrade by replacing the Sensatec seat with Vernasca skins and installing a multi-Contour front seat with ventilation. The dual-zone climate control is upgraded to Quad-Zone, and the Premium Harman Kardon 16-speaker sound system enhances the Infotainment Suite.
There is still room for improvement, though. Adaptive LED light icons with Laserlight and a high-tech head-up display can be added with the executive package. The Surround-View camera is a welcome addition, too, given the great Blind-spots present on the X5. If you want your SUV to be as rugged as it is fancy, you can opt for off-Road Package.

The new arrival 2021 X5 puts BMW’s longest-running SUV back at the top of the game. On the basis of xDrive40i pseudonym, the editor of Andrew Krok’s association even said it might be the best luxury crossover in a very competitive class.
The version of xDrive50i that you see here is even more impressive. With a larger engine and quite a list of equipment performance, The X5 50I prey to hunt The properties of Sportier-that is, Porsche Cayenne S.
While xDrive40i does not bend, with 335 horsepower and 330 pounds-foot torque on offer, 50I is a different animal. The X5 50I uses a 4.4 liter, twin-turbocharged V8 that puts out 456 horsepower and 479 pound-foot twist. The latter is available from only 1,500 rpm to 4,750 rpm, for muscular giddy-up and impressive mid-range blows.
Working with BMW’s familiar, ZF-sourced eight-speed automatic transmission and all-wheel drive, the EPA returned longer drivetrain-an estimated 17 miles per gallon in the city and 22 MPG on the highway. BMW said the xDrive50i accelerates for 60 miles per hour in 4.6 seconds and the top comes out at 155 mph. Crazy numbers for sure, which is probably the breathing when X5 M inevitably arrives. As for the 434-Horsepower Porsche Cayenne S, it’s a slower smidge, reaching 60 mph in 4.9 seconds, but the highest speed hits from the 164 mph gave the Texas Mile bragging rights to Bimmer.
The side number, V8-powered X5 is seriously fast in the days of driving. In sport mode, it costs away from the stoplights in a quick, often-stimulating mode. The Gearbox is beautiful, performs fast and well-timed up – and Downshift causes me to never really want to use a paddle for Do-It-Yourself picking equipment. No Turbo lag or throttle response is muted, only intense acceleration, especially for vehicle weighing at a not-significant 5,170 pounds. There is even a true record meaning of optional exhaust performance.
Adaptive reducer is a standard-issue on 50I, but my tester $3,650 dynamic Handling package enhances the stock handling further with rear-wheel steering, differential back vector torque, Bar stabilizer active and brake enhanced. Unfortunately, I cannot fully experience the benefits of all the hardware, because my test car is equipped with a cool-weather friendly general grabber AT3 All-Terrain tire.

While Generals definitely help get the X5 through the winter in one piece, on the dry sidewalk the downside is increased body roll, less cornering grip, and less steering wheel feedback. The excellent travel quality is an Upshot, but I have a little doubt that stock all-season or performance available rubber will firm up the problem and put the X5 near the top of the class in terms of reflexes.
To convey performance enhancement, this X5 wears a BMW M Sport trim design. This package adds a colored body Trim exterior, black roof rails, a matte aluminum version of the kidney Grill BMW and, most noticeably, a 20-inch black M wheel. Along with with Carbon Black Metallic paintwork, larger lattice, thinner lights, more beautiful backlights, and new evolutionary sheets, the new X5 xDrive50i looks very sharp.

Inside, a thick-framed M Sport steering wheel, a metal pedal, and an aluminum Trim accent are added to the X5 ‘s direct environment. The 20-Way, heated, front-seat power is super comfortable with a pretty side bolsters, and a heated armrest helps me overcome the cool spring morning.
A leather-wrapped Dash, which will incur an additional $1,200 fee, is also a nice premium touch for a spacious cabin. As for the cargo-carrying capability, the X5 offers 72.3 cubic meters of space with folded rear seats.
Some might grumble about the abundance of buttons on the pile of the center, but I prefer this to stuff everything into the touchscreen. It’s easier to get adjusting to a hard button location and much less distracting than filtering through various menus just to do things like changing the ventilation settings or switch between preset radio stations.
Speaking of screens, they are prevalent in X5. A standard 12.3-inch gauge displays and offers certain colors and layout changes depending on the drive mode that the car is in. Leisure and Sports modes call a red background, while Eco Pro uses the blue scheme.
Another 12.3-inch touchscreen Infotainment is above the middle stack running the latest iDrive Infotainment 7 system. iDrive intuitively and responds directly to commands either from the touchscreen or physical control on the center console. Navigation, 16-speaker Harman Kardon surround-sound setup, satellite radio, Bluetooth and optional Wi-Fi hotspot shared for travel. One year of Apple CarPlay is also included, but after that, you will disappoint should Pony ride the subscription fee to use it.

The BMW gesture control feature is also included in my Test X5. It’s ridiculous but works well enough to adjust the audio volume by rotating the fingers, or accepting and rejecting phone calls with a hand wave. It is part of unnecessary technology but provides a high value of entertainment for passengers. Turning on your phone and tablet shouldn’t be a problem, either with a wireless pad in front, along with a 12-volt outlet, and a USB-C port sprinkled along both lines.
As for security, advanced collision warnings with automatic emergency braking, lane-departure warnings, and blind-spot Monitoring come at all X5s. A $1,700 driving aid Plus package adds a full-speed adaptive Cruise Control and track-continuously helping the gentle car make in the middle of the track when marching on the toll road. A 360-degree view of the head and camera can also be obtained.

When constructing an xDrive50i X5, I will start with an M Sport Trim design, which starts at $79,550. A slick metallic blue Phytonic paint job is a no-cost option, so I’ll take that as well. Then I’m going to add a dynamic handling package that’s only available on the M Sport model for $3,650. The only concession for the extra luxury would be the $250 front heated arm. All in, my car wears a price tag of $84,445, including $995 for the purpose, which is a bit more affordable than my car $92,405 test.
The impressive 2021 X5 does not matter which trim you choose, and xDrive50i offers the power that will satisfy the devil speed. Its extensive, well-trimmed interior and ship-loading technology are just icing on the cake.
But do you go for the V8-powered X5 upper Cayenne S? If you are looking for a playing value, xDrive50i starts at $75,750, underestimating the Porsche $82,900. But with its incredible power, fancy, and great on-road demeanor, it doesn’t feel like a compromise at all.
