BMW R 1250 GS Reviews
From Africa to Central Asia: GS has been everywhere in the world in 40 years. Motorcycles that have mastered every terrain and every road – strong and brave despite the elements. GS is a pioneer of dual-sport motorcycles.
Every success story has a beginning: The GS story began in 1980 when BMW Motorrad introduced the R 80 G/S. It’s powerful, versatile, and easy to handle under any circumstances: It became the world’s first major dual-sport motorcycle. And it’s still ridden 40 years later. Unstoppable – and perfect for any adventure.
In 1978, BMW Motorrad caught the eye with its first GS predecessor: the GS 80 took two gold medals at the International Six Days Enduro. The motor has been developed by an in-house development team without official orders. But its success proves engineers and mechanics right: Their bikes make it really fun to ride off-road and on-road.
With the GS, BMW Motorrad creates the perfect synthesis of off-road and road driving: Regardless of the type of surface, riders have control over their bikes in every situation while also enjoying maximum comfort on long routes.
The highlight is the mono lever unilateral swing arm, which is the first to be mounted on motorcycles around the world. This reduces weight and allows the rear wheels to be changed quickly. With the R 80 G/S, BMW Motorrad created a segment for large and comfortable dual-sport motors – a segment that still dominates today.
R 100 GS, focusing on many displacements: it is the most powerful and fastest enduro on the market. The dual-pivot paralever swing arm on the rear wheels ensures easy off-road and on-road handling. With its striking black-and-yellow paint, it is known as “Bumblebee”. The color is very popular among fans today and adorns this year’s special edition of the “40 Years GS” model.
in 2004 BMW re-released the R 1200 GS. The motor is given more displacement, power, and torque, making it more dynamic in any terrain while weighing 66 lbs less at the same time.
2022 BMW R 1250 GS Engine
The new era began nearly ten years later when BMW Engineers equipped the R 1200 GS with a water-cooled boxer engine – something that had never been done before. The motor also has a semi-active suspension with Dynamic ESA (electronic suspension adjustment), which makes handling and driving comfort to a new level.
In the years that followed, BMW Motorrad continued to build the GS legend. The popular R 1250 GS comes with a redeveloped two-cylinder boxer engine.
Thanks to its variable BMW ShiftCam camshaft controls, it delivers more power across all speed ranges and makes the GS easier. mid-range models F 750 GS and F 850 GS undergo constant development and make riding more enjoyable with larger displacements and modified chassis.
