2024 BMW 7 Series: New Exterior And Interior Design

2024 BMW 7 Series

BMW is all set to launch the next generation of the 7 Series. Some reports confirmed that the large sedan would wear a more extroverted exterior design than the current model and detailed some updated technology features.

The 2024 BMW 5 Series and 2024 BMW 7 Series will come with advanced driving automation.

Some might say it’s time for German automakers to plan something like this. The debut Level 3 autonomous driving system will happen with the Series 7 at the end of 2023.

The next seventh generation 7 borrows some stylistic cues from the iX and XM concepts launched in 2021. Its giant grille is a polarizing force cue that BMW customers love.

As the grille grows, the headlights shrink. They look smaller than those installed on the current generation Series 7, feature lighting elements made with crystal glass, and are mounted horizontally at about the same level as the top of the grid. BMW calls this a “modern and distinctive” spin on twin round headlights mounted on older 7s.

2024 BMW 7 Series Interior

The interior takes a big step forward in design, adopting a look similar to the iX electric SUV and using many exotic materials, including open porous wood and cashmere.

The 7-series cabin also integrates absurd technological features in various screen displays and tablet control interfaces for front and rear seat passengers.

It’s also available with a power-opening door—a Rolls-Royce comfort level. The hedonistic rear seat package, as is a necessity in this segment, includes recliner-style seats on the passenger side with extendable footrests.

The optional BMW Theater screen is 31.0 inches large and extends downwards from the roof to offer rear passengers a more immersive viewing experience.

2024 BMW 7 Series Powertrain

The powertrain specs have not yet been released, but BMW insists that the battery-powered i7 will be the most powerful member of the 7 Series portfolio.

According to the company, it will offer about 305 miles of driving range. Gasoline-fueled engines will also be available for buyers who are not interested in using electricity, although don’t expect a V12-powered range-topper. BMW will soon cease the manufacturing of the V12.

2024 BMW 7 Series Release Date and Price

The 7 Series will be expected to be sold in the US by the End of 2024, with prices starting at $94,295 for the 740i and $114,595 for the 760i xDrive. The i7 is more expensive than the two, starting at $120,295.

31-inch Theater Screen

The Series 7 looks as unique as the outside, especially from the rear seat. That’s thanks to the new 31-inch Theater Screen that spans most of the car’s width and turns it into a mobile cinema.

The display displays images in a sharp 8K resolution and supports ultra-widescreen content where the content is available.

It is controlled through the touch panel on the rear door, and when it is installed, the curtains of the side and rear windows are automatically closed to avoid glare.

Integrated into the system is Amazon Fire TV, but other streaming apps like Twitch and Discovery+ are also available.

It’s no surprise that this optional extra is expensive, and BMWBlog reports that adding Theater Screens on the German 7 Series configurator will make buyers return about $ 4 800.

Bowers and Wilkins audio system with up to 36 speakers

There’s no point in having a new theatrical screen that thrills the world if it’s not paired with the right cutting-edge sound system, and to make sure the 7 Series media system sounds as good as it looks, BMW turned to Bowers & Wilkins.

There are two options available: the first is the standard 18-speaker system, which produces up to 655 watts of power.

At the heart of this is an integrated surround sound system, which consists of five tweeters, four midrange speakers on the front and rear doors, and two woofers, according to CarBuzz.

Buyers with more innovative ears can opt for a top-spec 36-speaker setup, which produces a maximum power of 1,965 watts and features additional speakers on the headrests and roof, among other venues.

CarBuzz reports that this top-spec system uses domes made of natural diamonds grown under laboratory conditions to reduce distortion almost entirely. Several additional features are also included in the optional system to improve bass tone clarity, providing a richer studio-like experience optimized across all frequencies.

New iDrive and BMW 8 Operating System

At the heart of all the new technologies and assistive features that BMW has incorporated into the 7 Series is the latest version of iDrive, which runs on BMW’s operating system.

The iDrive system is still controlled via a traditional rotary controller, although the new “BMW Interaction Bar” stretches across the dashboard, adding a futuristic element to the process. This bar has two functions: an adjustable control interface and ambient light, depending on the situation.

The car also includes an updated version of BMW’s Head-Up display, and a new Augmented View function is available for the first time on a show behind the wheel.

Over-the-air updates will keep these features updated for as long as possible. In particular, BMW stated at the launch that its main focus was to refresh its power management system to improve the longevity of the powertrain and car system.

Considering how quickly the previous generation of the Series 7 and its rivals, such as the S-Class, became obsolete thanks to their ever-changing technology, this change in focus is excellent news.

BMW seems to think that the new car has all the hardware needed to stay up-to-date in the future, which will please both used buyers and new owners who want to keep their vehicles longer.

Executive Lounge and Sky Lounge Packages

New to the 2023 car, the 7 Series is now only available as a long wheelbase. That means the rear leg space is already very spacious as standard, but for shoppers who want more room to lie down, the Executive Lounge package includes reclining rear seats equipped with Merino leather or cashmere wool.

Built-in footrests for the passenger-side rear seats are also included, matching other systems. The unique rear center console allows Executive Lounge shoppers to control the infotainment without moving from a reclining position.

Additional optional extras are available for shoppers who want to relieve stress during the trip, including a “Sky Lounge” LED roof featuring luminous threads woven through the panoramic roof glass.

This allows drivers and passengers to adjust the ambient lighting in their cars to the right tastes while simultaneously allowing a lot of natural light.

Whether choosing Sky Lounge, Executive Lounge, or both, the packages in the new Series 7 are enough to make almost every aspect of the trip infinitely customizable.

Driver assistance systems, including autonomous parking

In addition to the comfort system for rear-seat passengers, a new set of assistance features is available for drivers for a hassle-free trip.

Each model in the 7 Series is equipped with a comprehensive safety suite, including front collision warning, blind spot monitoring, lane departure warning, and city collision mitigation.

Optional assistance packages are available to assist with parking, including maneuver assistants, which can park cars independently using a variety of sensors and AI systems.

Various assistance and monitoring systems are also available to help drivers track the charge level of the electric 7 Series variant.

Although, with the EPA’s estimated range of 300 miles, all but the longest journey should be able to be completed without needing to be recharged.

If the car runs out of steam before reaching its destination, it is equipped with a fast-charging capability capable of restoring a distance of up to 80 miles in just 10 minutes.
