This new unit represents an impressive evolution over the previous 1, 170cc units that we have already recognized as the Ultimate BMW twin boxer for innovative distribution and induction configurations and selective air-/Liquid-cooling systems. The new 1, 254cc unit inherits all of it and more, ranging from variable timing and lift to the Intake Valve cam system that BMW MOTORRAD calls ShiftCam.

Additionally, the intake valve follows an asymmetric opening time to create stronger Swirl turbulence that further enhances the perfect combustion of the inhaled charge, in combination with the falling turbulence caused by a downdraft inlet port.

The end result is an impressive peak torque amount of 105.5 pounds-feet at 6,250 rpm which ensures a very strong and highly refined throttle response at every rpm, in addition to a smooth ride thanks to an improved balancing shaft.

For a classic look, the base version is painted Black Storm Metallic-front wheel cover, front spoiler, side Trim tank and rear side panels receive this fine paint. Many details in black complement the overall look of the Roadster: the main and rear frames, the brake caliper, the radiator cover, and the seat.
