A fully-electrically 5-Series BMW seems like a very long stretch now. However, if this latest rumor turns out to be true, then we can expect that version to co-exist alongside the next-generation BMW 5er.

Expected to arrive at 2023, the successor out G3X will reportedly get at least two electric drivetrains, according to BMWBlog, citing Insiders. Also rumored is the fifth-gen eDrive technology found in the I4 and iNext.

A few years ago, BMW CEO Harald Kruger launched their ACES strategy, which stands for Automated, connected, Electrified, and service (mobility Service). The strategy came from BMW focused on not only keeping up with their competition but also cutting CO2 emissions from the vehicle.

It seems the ambitious goal to work alongside corporate strategy firms from the next number one > will launch BMW into the future of technology, as well as automatic driving. According to ExtremeTech, under the ACES of this new strategy, BMW will offer 25 electric vehicles by 2025, with 12 being fully-electrically.

Publication thought the suspected electric 5-Series would get both the Rear-wheel and the all-wheel-drive version, plus the packaging battery produces anywhere between 60-80 kWh, providing with a range of at least 300 miles (483 km). The top value may be able to travel up to 435 miles (700 km) on a single charge.

Many people find this goal too ambitious, but BMW strives to impress. CEO Kruger returned in June 2019, to announce that a 25-vehicle lineup would move ahead of schedule by two years. According to the BMW Blog, the 25 electric vehicles will be debuting by 2023 instead, including the highly anticipated, Next Generation 5 Series. Of these 25 vehicles, more than half will be fully-electrically now.

The 5 Series Refresh will feature an entirely new design strategy and will play a strong role in the success of the BMW ACES strategy. In fact, the BMW “expects a 30% increase in hybrid and electric vehicle sales between 2019 and 2025,” according to Car and driver. We may not know all the details first, but the new 5 series will be available in at least 2 electric drivetrains.

Providing 5er-electric battery power will fall in hand with electrifying range enterprise plans. CEO Harald Kruger confirmed that the plan offered 25 electric models by 2025, with more than half being electrical, having been transferred to 2023.

2023 BMW 5 Series Horsepower

With the opening of the BEV Power last month, BMW may have been testing the waters for the 5-Series electricity. The concept is equipped with a fifth-gen electric drive, enjoying the large output of 710 HP (720 PS/530 kW). Performance-wise, it was at the same level as some of the best Supercars of today, requiring less than 3 seconds to accelerate to 62 mph (100 km/h), while retaining the practicality and convenience of cars in this class.

Until the next-gen 5-Series will be unveiled, the automakers are prepping Mid-Cycle refreshes. The facelifted iteration is currently undergoing testing and should be presented later this year or in 2020.
