2024 BMW i8: Hybrid Sports Car With 600HP Power

The BMW i8 M as the next-generation hybrid sports car — will be all-new to the 2024 model year, which is expected to be released in late 2023 as a 2024 model year.

BMW is currently working on the follow-up of the i8 plug-in-hybrid halo car, which has never really lived up to expectations.

Previewed by the 2019 BMW Vision M Next concept car, this unnamed replacement should put more emphasis on performance than its predecessor.

Following the i8, the supercar will have electrified front axles and combine a turbocharged gas engine with an electric motor on the rear axle.

But here, you will find inline-four instead of inline-three i8. The battery will allow at least 60 EV miles of driving between charges.

The combined output will tempt 600 ponies, so it must address anyone’s concerns about the i8 M having a motor to support its M1 look.

2024 BMW i8 Competitors

Increased power and greater emphasis on driving excitement will help the i8 M compete with other hybrid sports cars like the Acura NSX and Polestar 1 and even nonhybrids like the Porsche 911 Turbo.

BMW can also install rubber with low rolling resistance on this one, as with the i8, but we’re pretty sure the company has learned that lesson.

2024 BMW i8 Engine

The i8 M’s plug-in hybrid powertrain is anticipated to follow the same basic setup as the current i8, meaning an electric motor that drives the front wheels and a center-mounted gasoline engine, and an electric motor for the rear wheels.

As a replacement for the i8’s turbocharged 1.5-liter three-cylinder petrol engine, BMW says the new car will offer a turbocharged four-cylinder; the company also claims the total output of the system—a combination of electric and gas power—is 591 horsepower, which is much greater than the i8’s output of 369 horsepower.

This improved powertrain will help the i8 M compete with rivals such as the Acura NSX, Lexus LC500h, and Polestar 1.

Little is known about the i8 M’s cabin so far; BMW is expected to overcome the difficulties of getting in and out of the i8 by equipping the new car with front-hinged doors and a bottom-side sill to make the interior more accessible.

Like today’s cars, the i8 M will be BMW’s playground for future styles and should feature unique materials, cutting-edge features, and stunning design.

Storage and cargo capacity will likely remain limited, but front baggage may provide additional luggage space.

In the Vision M Next concept, BMW showcased a futuristic infotainment display that the company referred to as the Boost Pod; it consists of multiple glass screens and a head-up display to give the driver access to car-related information and in-flight entertainment features.

Release Date and Price

It is expected that the BMW i8 will begin release in late 2023 as a 2024 model, and the i8 is estimated to cost at least $ 160 000.
