New 2021 BMW 2 Series Gran Coupe Release Date

New 2021 BMW 2 Series Gran Coupe Release Date – The 2 Series is probably the most diverse of all BMW car lines. Introduced as a replacement for the 1st Coupe series in 2014, the car was originally a Coupe/convertible. At the same time, a completely different body style, active Tourer was launched, taking the direct goal of Mercedes ‘ B-Class.

The future of the 2021 BMW Series 2 range is quite complicated, to put it a bit. The Convertible is canceled and the product lineup is divided. While the Coupe Series 2 will retain the rear-wheel architecture of the drive, which recently launched the BMW 2 Series Gran Coupe moved to the front-wheel-drive platform. But the second generation of the Active Tourer 2 series will also send power to the front wheels.

However, this is just part of Saga series 2. At the end of 2018, we learned that the BMW 2021 series 2 Coupe is most likely no longer going to be made in one of the European BMW factories for the US market. There is a high probability that 2 Series Coupe will be made at the new San Luis Potosi factory in Mexico, on the same assembly line as the G20 series.

Going back to the roots, BMW decided on the autumn of 2019 to complicate things even more by presenting the 2 Series Gran Coupe, the car variant is meant to be Sportier from anything in the family while attracting for young, performance-driven customers. Those who normally go for the Mercedes CLA, for example.

BMW calls this new interpretation of the first car line plunging into the “higher class vehicles to the Premium compact segment ” and hopes it will continue the success story of the base model.

Of course, BMW hasn’t confirmed this rumor, but this week, some new evidence arises. Panjiva, a platform focused on Supply Chain Intelligence, reveals some of the first landing cargo shipments in the United States. The U.S. custom Manifest lists several assembly lines for the car section for the G42 and G87 BMW platforms. For those of you unfamiliar with the code name, G42 is reserved for the BMW 2021 series 2 while G87 is the name of the next-generation M2 platform.

BMW 2 Series Exterior Design

Gran Coupe has grown slightly in size compared to the existing, regular 2 Series. It stands 1,420 mm tall, spreads 4,526 mm in length and measures 1,800 mm in width. Silhouettes are Sportier and look street-more hungry than the usual version.

This new look has been accomplished by the BMW designer by stretching the line running the length of the car, featuring a windowless door window, and a backlight extending towards the center of the rear.

On the front, the car has been given a fresh look with a rather angled floodlight entry that forms the four-eyed look of Bimmers. The kidney Grille has changed as well, with the addition of a three-dimensional mesh instead of a regular Bar. The front end should be inspired by racing cars.

The new BMW 2 Series Gran Coupe is offered in five levels of Trim, namely Basic, Advantage, Sport Line, Luxury Line, and M Sport.

Arguably, this is not the definitive evidence that BMW is planning to plan 2 Series and M2 production in Mexico, but it makes sense from the manufacturing perspective. Both the 2021 BMW 2 and M2 series are next built on the CLAR architecture, just like the G20 3 Series, so having them on the same line will offer greater flexibility.

It would also make sense as the trade war that we are experiencing today is probably making it more profitable for BMW to assemble 2 series in America rather than the EU, especially when it comes to the US market.

Lastly, but not most important, is the fact that San Luis Potosi’s new crop is considered one of the most technologically advanced BMW manufacturing facilities. It is also the most efficient plant in the BMW portfolio. The site, with the lowest water consumption production network per vehicle produced, will be BMW Group’s first Cat shop to produce no wastewater processes at all. The water required for the painting process is reconditioned and reused.

Gran Coupe presents itself as a Low-slung car, whose sporty appearance may make some believe there is not much room for the people inside. However, BMW said despite its appearance, “Passengers are well catered for space-wise, thanks to the wheelbase of 2,670 millimeters. “

Design-wise, the interior doesn’t stray far from the usual BMW way of drawing interiors, and the same can be said when it comes to the choice of materials to cover the interior elements.

As standard, the 2 Gran Coupe series comes with a boot capable of holding 430 liters of cargo, and space can be configured in a variety of ways to accommodate various loads.

The whole complement of gadgets and systems that make this day of driving what has been installed in the new interpretation of the 2 Series, from the ability to control the car through the smartphone to have a sound robot assistant keeping the driver while on the road.

The facilities control over several extensive car systems and they start with the BMW digital Key which allows the use of smartphones to lock/unlock the car and start the vehicle.

The Intelligent Personal Assistant from BMW comes with voice control and provides support for the driver’s needs, and acts as a companion of sorts thanks to voice recognition and responsiveness.

BMW 2 Series Engine

The range of machines that will be available in the new 2 series consists of one diesel and two gasoline units, with the fourth engine set aside for the American market exclusively. All correlate to the eight-speed transmission of Steptronic Sports carmaker with the Launch Control mode and the xDrive all-wheel-drive system.

The Entry-level is three cylinders of gasoline at 218i, capable of generating 140 HP. The next is four cylinders at 220d (190 HP), and the most powerful four-cylinder BMW engine currently has on the market, rated at 306 HP and mounted on 228i xDrive. For the American market, there are 2.0-liter exclusive four-cylinder with 231 HP output.

BMW 2 Series Safety

To create a new 2 Series secure BMW looked at other models that are in the garage, even if at first glance the car is not there in common. For example, the Germans take the limitations of the almost actuator wheel slip which is usually deployed on i3s (and other cars), allowing the wheel slip to be controlled “much more sensitive and faster than before.”

The Gran Coupe is also equipped with a mechanical Torsen Limited-Slip differential, M Sport Steering, and M Sport brakes. BMW Performance Control, a system that applies the brakes at the inner corner before the Slip threshold has been reached, also on the deck.

There are also a large number of modern security systems that help make every trip safer, including line departure warnings, emergency braking, rear collision warnings, and cross-cross alerts.
